When I think of Salsa, I think of the explosion of flavors. Though one uses simple day to day ingredients when it is all mixed it is flavourful, exciting and addictive. It can be eaten as a side with quesadilla or fajitas or just as an appetizer with tortilla chips.
Fresh Corn Salsa
Ingredients
- 2 corn on the cobs – steamed or grilled and remove kernels
- 1-2 green chillies, chopped finely
- 1 onion, chopped fine
- 6-8 cherry tomatoes or 1 tomato, chopped
- 1/2 raw mango – chopped (optional)
- 2 tbsp coriander leaves/ cilantro – chopped
- juice of 1 lime
- salt to taste
Directions
- Mix all the ingredients. Serve with tortilla chips
- To give it an Indian twist- add some peanuts to it and sprinkle some sev (a crispy snack made from gram flour)
Fresh Tomato Salsa
Ingredients
- 3-4 tomatoes, chopped fine
- 1 onion, chopped fine
- 1-2 green chillies, chopped finely
- 2 tbsp coriander leaves/ cilantro – chopped
- 3 cloves of garlic, sauteed in olive oil, chopped finely
- 1/4 tsp chilli powder
- juice of 1 lime
- salt to taste
Directions
- Method 1 – Mix all the ingredients to get a chunky salsa. Serve with tortilla chips
- Method 2- If you want a restaurant style salsa, put all ingredients in the food processor for a minute. Serve with chips or as a side with mexican rice or fajitas.
